Live Marine Phytoplankton and Zooplankton

Copepods and rotifers can be easily cultured in small vessels or directly in your reef tank or refugium. They can be used as part of the critter populations and clean up crew in your aquarium or as food for larval fish rearing.
Live marine phytoplankton are one of the organisms that are at the bottom of the food chain on coral reefs, many species of coral will feed directly on live phytoplankton but others will not. Zooplankton such as copepods and rotifers are very small animals that feed on live phytoplankton. Most species of coral will feed on zooplankton. The ideal and most natural way of feeding your aquarium is by providing both marine phytoplankton and zooplankton.
All you need to culture the live copepods and rotifers is a small container and an airpump, you do not need heating or filtration for them, simply feed them a little live phytoplankton each day. The live marine phytoplankton can also be fed directly to your reef aquarium.
